The Thomaston Mayor and City Council in conjunction with the Upson County Board of Commissioners will hold a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Thomaston-Upson Government Complex. The purpose will be for the discussion of a proposed Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). The Transportation SPLOST is a sales tax where the capital outlays are intended for transportation purposes only.
The special election on the proposed TSPLOST will be held on March 19, 2019, for the voters to decide to add a 1.0% or one penny for every dollar. The TSPLOST is projected to generate approximately $17 million.
